What Makes a Quality DTF Transfer

A quality DTF transfer survives the press and the wash. Soft whites, dirty edges, and film that fights the peel show up on the garment — and on your reputation with the client.
Cut-to-size sheets from DiscountDTF are built for shop work: opaque coverage on darks, hot peel that comes clean, nested pricing from about $0.02/in² of printed area. Artwork still has to arrive clean — RGB PNG at 300 DPI — or no film line can invent detail that is not there.
What you feel on the platen
- White that covers — colours sit on a solid underbase on dark tees, not a grey wash-through
- Peel that cooperates — hot peel in one motion at normal cotton / poly settings
- Edges that match the art — no accidental anti-alias halo from a bad knock-out
- Hand that stretches — film that moves with the fabric instead of cracking at stress points when pressed and washed correctly

Gang sheets expose weak process
One design on a lonely sheet can hide inconsistency. A nested gang sheet puts left chests, backs, and small marks side by side — every piece should press the same way. That is why we print cut-to-size in Canada with tracked shipping: shops need the whole sheet usable, not three good logos and two soft ones.
How to judge before a big run
- Order a small nested sheet or sample when you are new to the film
- Press on the actual blank you sell
- Wash a test piece before you commit a client’s full order

Why does my transfer look muted on black?
Usually thin white underbase in the film, soft art, or a press that was too cold / too short. Fix the file first, then verify press settings.
Do quality transfers need special peels?
