How Decorators Batch Client Jobs on One Gang Sheet

Decorator shops do not run one client at a time if they can help it. Monday’s left-chests, Tuesday’s event backs, and a rush sleeve mark should share one cut-to-size DTF sheet — nest tight, label the cuts, press by job. That is how you stop paying for empty film between logos.

Screens still win when one mark repeats by the hundreds. Most shop days are the opposite: five clients, mixed sizes, full colour, deadline tonight. DTF transfers (shops also say DTF prints) are built for that queue.

What “batching” means on the platen

• One sheet, many jobs — client A chest marks beside client B backs; pay from about $0.02/in² of printed area
• Label before you peel — bag cuts by PO / client name so the press station does not guess
• Same press recipe — keep temperature and peel consistent across the batch (press guide, easy apply)
• File discipline once — RGB PNG at 300 DPI, clean edges, then nest (file prep, AA / RGB)

A shop floor workflow that scales

1. Collect art until you have enough square inches to fill a sensible sheet — or ship a smaller sheet when the rush is real
2. Normalize files: transparent PNG, no soft auto-trace rings, brand colours locked in RGB
3. Nest on the gang sheet builder; leave a hair of space for clean cuts
4. Press, peel, sort bags; add blanks when the client needs shirts and film together

Where money leaks

Empty film between poorly nested marks. Soft edges that look dirty after wash. Reprints because two clients shared a “close enough” colour file. Quality transfers are process, not a slogan — and wholesale / cut-to-size math only works when the nest is tight.
